Summary
The human T cell receptor δ/α and β genes are frequent sites for chromosomal translocation found in T cell tumours. The formation of these abnormalities requires two components; target sequences for the recombination events and chromosomal accessibility for the enzymes involved. The examination of sequences at and near the junctions of chromosomal translocations reveals the underlying recognition processes leading to the inter-chromosomal exchange resulting in translocation.
