Abstract
Information about the topology of Na+/K+-ATPase subunits in the cell membrane has been obtained from their primary sequences and hydropathy plots combined with site-specific labelling, immunological and proteolytic digestion studies. The N- and C-termini have been located on the cytoplasmic side by Antolovic et al. (1) on right side-out vesicles using immunological techniques. The number and location of membrane spanning regions is still a matter of dispute as the hydropathy plots in the C-terminal area do not give any clear answer (4).
