Abstract
Reconstructive microsurgery has made a major contribution to reconstruction in head and neck problems. In some situations, such as soft tissue coverage of the face or intra-oral area, it has provided another alternative to accepted pedicle techniques. In other situations, microsurgery has provided a unique solution to problems such as facial paralysis and major mandibular defects which previously did not have satisfactory reconstructions.
