Bradykinin, Kallidin and Kallikrein

Abstract

This article summarizes the results of investigations of various asepcts of the kallikrein-kinin system of blood plasma and tissues carried out by Soviet scientists. The chemistry, biochemistry, pharmacology, and physiology of kinins; the methods of study and estimation of activity of kinins and main components of the kallikreinkinin system; as well as the state of this system in healthy subjects and in patients are discussed. The summary deals with papers published in Soviet journals and monographs in the years 1970–1977. Only some of the works published earlier and not mentioned by Dr. Trĉka in Vol. XXV Handbook of Experimental Pharmacology are referred to.
