Abstract
“Send an ambulance to Moorgate Station, a train driver has been injured”. That single “999” emergency call to the London Ambulance Service Controller on duty at 0848 hours on Friday, the 28th of February, 1975, although indicating nothing unusual at that time, heralded the start of a six day disaster intervention operation by 240 police officers in association with personnel of a large number of other full-time and voluntary emergency organisations.
