Abstract
Some very fine reviews of the morphology and function of hepatocellular endoplasmic reticulum (ER) have been published in the last few years. Any of the newer textbooks of histology or cytology will list these in profusion and the reader is referred to such standard texts if “endoplasmic reticulum” is a new encounter for him. It would be presumptious of me to do more in this area than point out a few characteristics of ER of particular concern to those interested in drug metabolism and pharmacology.
