Bradykinin and Intracranial Circulation in Man

  • Chapter
Bradykinin, Kallidin and Kallikrein

Abstract

The vessels of the head are sensitive to bradykinin If we inject small doses of this substance intravenously, a transient flush in the face, but not in other parts of the body, is observed. The circulation of the facial skin is more sensitive to bradykinin than other areas of skin are to vasodilating agents. The intracranial extracerebral vasculature also responds quickly to an administration of the polypeptide, but this is demonstrable only with the aid of special techniques. The circulation of the brain seems to be scarcely influenced by polypeptides.
