Zusammenfassung

In diesem Kapitel werden fast ausschließlich Nierenerkrankungen des Erwachsenenalters besprochen. Die Darstellung der Nephropathien des Kindesalters ist im Kap. 199, „Lage- und Verschmelzungsanomalien der Nieren“ zu finden. Die große Relevanz dieses Themas wird sofort ersichtlich, wenn man bedenkt, dass etwa 10 % aller Menschen eine eingeschränkte Nierenfunktion aufweisen. Die Prävalenz der terminalen, ersatzpflichtigen Niereninsuffizienz beträgt 0,1 %. Der überwiegenden Mehrzahl dieser terminalen Nierenversagen liegen internistische Erkrankungen zugrunde. Nur in einem sehr kleinen Teil von entweder Kindern oder alten Patienten sind urologische Erkrankungen die Ursache für das terminale Nierenversagen.
