Zusammenfassung
Schilddrüsentherapeutika werden eingesetzt, um eine Unterfunktion zu substituieren bzw. bei Tendenz zur Unterfunktion eine Kropfprophylaxe zu betreiben oder eine Überfunktion der Schilddrüse zu behandeln. Dementsprechend werden innerhalb dieser Indikationsgruppe drei Arzneimittelgruppen unterschieden. Schilddrüsenhormone werden gegeben, um bei Unterfunktion die mangelnde Hormonbildung der Drüse zu substituieren. Sie dienen auch der TSH-Absenkung bei der endemischen Struma infolge Iodfehlverwertung oder Iodmangel. Bei letzterem werden bevorzugt Iodidpräparate verabreicht, insbesondere solange die Struma noch nicht regressiv bzw. knotig verändert ist. Thyreostatika werden bei Schilddrüsenüberfunktion gegeben, um eine übermäßige Hormonproduktion der Schilddrüse zu blockieren.
