Zusammenfassung

Brustkrebs ist heute die zweithäufigste Krebstodesursache bei Frauen (nach Lungenkrebs) und die am weitesten verbreitete Krebsart bei Frauen, mit Ausnahme nicht melanozytärer Hautkrebsarten (weißer Hautkrebs). Laut der American Cancer Society wird Brustkrebs jährlich bei 1,3 Millionen Frauen weltweit diagnostiziert, und ca. 465.000 sterben an der Krankheit.
