Zusammenfassung
Von einer Depression spricht man im Allgemeinen bei länger andauernden negativen Gemütszuständen, die zu Aspekten der »Losigkeit « (Freudlosigkeit, Lustlosigkeit, Wertlosigkeit). führen. Sie gehört zu den affektiven Störungen, zu deren Hauptsymptomen laut ICD-10, Kapitel V, Veränderungen der Stimmung oder der Affektivität gehören. Dabei spricht Davison (2007, S. 252) von Depression »als einen emotionalen Zustand, der durch starke Traurigkeit und Niedergeschlagenheit geprägt ist«. Negative Gefühle werden mit Worten der Wertlosigkeit, Schuld, sozialer Rückzug und Appetitlosigkeit umschrieben.
