Unter Lehr-Lern-Forschung wird gemeinhin ein Forschungsprogramm der empirischen Bildungsforschung und der Pädagogischen Psychologie verstanden, das sich mit der Analyse und Darstellung von Voraussetzungen, Prozessen und Ergebnissen des menschlichen Lernens in beliebigen Lehrsituationen befasst. Hiervon zu unterscheiden ist das enger abgesteckte Forschungsfeld der schulbezogenen Unterrichts- und Lehr-Lern-Forschung, das den besonderen Gegenstand des vorliegenden Beitrags bildet. Dieser bereichsspezifischen Form der Lehr- Lern-Forschung geht es darum, Prozesse der Vermittlung von Wissen und Fähigkeiten sowie Prozesse der Identitätsentwicklung von Subjekten und der Individuation speziell in Kontexten schulischer Bildung methodisch-systematisch zu untersuchen und theoretisch darzustellen. Besondere Kennzeichen der aktuellen schulbezogenen Lehr-Lern-Forschung sind Interdiszipli-narität und paradigmatische Vielfältigkeit. Neben der Pädagogischen Psychologie haben sich vor allem von der modernen Anthropologie, der Ethnologie, der Linguistik, der Soziologie und dem Poststrukturalismus beeinflusste Ansätze der Erforschung des Lehrens und Lernens in der Schule zugewandt. Dabei wird der Forschungsgegenstand unterschiedlich konzeptualisiert und mit verschiedensten Methoden zu verschiedensten Zwecken bearbeitet: Zum einen sind empirisch-analytische Forschungsansätze von Bedeutung, die eine gesetzliche Strukturierung der Erziehungswirklichkeit unterstellen. Diese Ansätze arbeiten mit systematischen Beobachtungsverfahren, standardisierten Tests und experimentellen bzw. quasi-experimentellen Methoden um eine auf kausalen oder probabilistischen Erziehungsgesetzen basierende allgemeine Ins- truktions- und Schultheorie zu begründen.
