Zusammenfassung
Heutzutage ist es nichts Ungewöhnliches, als Laie auf Aktienmärkten zu investieren. In den USA etwa erreichte die Teilnahmequote an den Märkten während der 1990er Jahre über 50 Prozent (Davis 2008). Seitdem haben Finanzmarktkrisen zu einem Rückgang geführt. Die Aktienmarktbeteiligung ist jedoch heutzutage immer noch deutlich höher als in der Mitte des 20. Jahrhunderts. So geben Statistiken aus dem Jahr 2012 an, dass in den USA etwa 46 Prozent der Bevölkerung direkte oder indirekte Aktienbesitzer sind (Wolff 2012, S. 80).
