Zusammenfassung

Die mexikanische Gewerkschaftsbewegung kann auf eine gut 150jährige Geschichte zurückblicken. Ungeachtet des bisweilen heroischen und kämpferischen Diskurses präsentiert sie sich heute jedoch als schwach, zerstritten und zersplittert. In der Mexikanischen Revolution von 1910 war die Arbeiterbewegung kein Schlüsselakteur. Die sozialen Errungenschaften, die Mexiko um die Mitte des 20. Jahrhunderts im lateinamerikanischen Kontext zu einem sozialpolitischen Vorbild machten, sind weniger Ergebnis gewerkschaftlicher Mobilisierung als paternalistischen Agierens des Nachrevolutionsregimes gewesen
