Zusammenfassung
Der Begriff der Unsicherheit spielt in den unterschiedlichsten disziplinären Zusammenhängen eine entscheidende Rolle: Besonders prominent ist der Begriff in vielen ökonomischen Theorien, aber auch in den Naturwissenschaften kommt dem Begriff Relevanz zu. In der organisationstheoretischen Forschung und insbesondere ihren soziologischen Varianten kann man dem Begriff einen klassischen Status zusprechen. Klassisch ist der Begriff insofern, als seine Einführung zwar auf historisch konkret bestimmbare Bedingungen des organisationstheoretischen Feldes reagiert, er aber trotz veränderter Bedingungen und den damit implizierten Bedeutungsverschiebungen nicht an aktueller Relevanz einbüßt.

Ich folge in diesem Beitrag insofern nicht der oben erwähnten begrifflichen Differenzierung von Weick und ergänze den Unsicherheitsbegriff durch andere Begriffe. Den Unsicherheitsbegriff als Oberbegriff für die Problematisierung des Verhältnisses von Organisation und Umwelt zu verwenden, besitzt zum einen den Vorteil, auch theoretische Verständnisse in die Heuristik einzubeziehen, die den Unsicherheitsbegriff allgemeiner gebrauchen (vgl. z. B. Brunsson 1985, S. 37 ff.; Luhmann 2006) ohne zugleich für begriffliche Unübersichtlichkeit zu sorgen. Zum anderen verweist die Unterordnung unter einen einheitlichen Oberbegriff darauf, dass es sich um die Differenzierung eines Phänomens handelt, deren Zusammenspiel erst die Komplexität organisatorischer Umwelten beobachtbar macht.
