Einschlußverbindungen sind schon seit Beginn des vorigen Jahrhunderts bekannt. Wesentliches Merkmal dieses Verbindungstyps ist, daß eine hohlraumhaltige Wirtkomponente eine oder mehrere Gastkomponenten einlagert, ohne kovalente Bindungen zu betätigen.
