Zusammenfassung
Trotz der euphorischen Prognosen über das Wachstum der M-Commerce-Märkte, ist die Akzeptanz und Marktdurchdringung des ersten verfügbaren mobilen (WAP-)Dienstes nur sehr gering. Hier stellt sich die dringende Frage nach den Gründen für diesen ernüchternden Flop. Neben den bekannten Fehlern bei der Markteinführung ist es insbe sondere die mangelhafte Adaption der Internet-Angebote an die speziellen Fähigkeiten und Gegebenheiten von mobilen Endgeräten, die als gewichtiger Grund für die mangelnde Akzeptanz und Nutzung der derzeitigen WAP-Dienste zu nennen ist (vgl. Pech/Brodie-Smith/Ha 2000, S. 57). Adaption an die speziellen Nutzungssituationen und Besonderheiten des User-Interface (UI) sind jedoch wichtige Voraussetzungen für die Akzeptanz innovativer, technischer Applikationen. Hiermit sind zwei zentrale Determi nanten bzw. Parameter der Akzeptanz von M-Commerce-Anwendungen angesprochen: nämlich die Utility und Usability von mobilen Diensten.
