Zusammenfassung
Mit der zentralen Bedeutung der neuen Schlüsseltechnologien, dem Problem der Großtechnologie und der Komplexität der gesellschaftlichen, ökonomischen und politischen Regelsysteme nimmt Wissenschaft beständig in der ihr zugewiesenen Bedeutung und als Grundlage für Entscheidungen zu. Es scheint in den verschiedenen Diskussionen bisweilen, als ob geradezu alle zukünftige Entwicklung von dem Fortschritt abhänge, den Wissenschaft hervorbringt und der Gesellschaft zur Nutzung zur Verfügung stellt. Der verfügbare wissenschaftlich-technische Fortschritt nimmt dabei trotz der zunehmenden Internationalisierung des Diskussionsprozesses in den jeweiligen Disziplinen deutlich identifizierbare nationale Muster an. Gleichzeitig wird Wissenschaft aber als ein Bereich angesehen, der seiner eigenen Rationalität folge und elementar von der Originalität der Forscher bestimmt werde.
