Abstract
Central nervous system stimulants or analeptic drugs can be used in combination with traditional pain treatments such as NSAIDs (nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs) or opioids to improve pain control through synergistic mechanisms. Analeptic drugs can also be used to help mitigate harmful side effects of traditional opioids used for the treatment of both acute and chronic pain management such as respiratory depression or oversedation.
