Abstract
Animal research is important to the advancement of science and medicine. Countless lives have been saved or enhanced as a result of advances directly attributable to animal research. Despite these profound contributions, animal research continues to be controversial throughout the world. Modern technology has propelled many to argue that animal experimentation is no longer necessary. However, animal research still fulfills an important role in medicine today; the demise of animal research would impede the continued progression future of science and medicine.
