Abstract
This book endeavored to analyze the changes in women’s involvement in British Paganism during the latter half of the twentieth century, as well as in the attitudes toward women and gender issues within local Pagan groups. While a general shift toward women’s issues at the face of the growing feminist movement was noted in the movement as a whole, the adaptation of feminist discourse and ideas by British Wiccans and Wiccan-derived Pagans was highly uneven. Such disparities did cause, of course, highly charged debates among British Wiccans and Wiccan-derived Pagans, and resulted in major disputes around gender relations and the status of the Horned God.
