Abstract

This chapter discusses the major innovators and innovations in the field of personality assessment over the course of the last century. Because many advances in psychological assessment began with adults, the manner in which assessment techniques were extended to children and adolescents is examined. In addition, a history of the development of assessment strategies for child externalizing and internalizing problems and the implications of the recent emphasis on evidence-based assessment are included.
