Abstract
Many pests damage the cultivated potato; Dudley et al. (1952) list over a hundred species in N. America alone. Most are either nematodes (discussed previously), insects or molluscs, although there are a few within other taxonomic groups. The major pests are insects especially of the orders Hemiptera, Coleoptera and Lepidoptera and are listed in Table 12.5.
