Abstract

For the purposes of this paper, the definition of “Tropics” is the following: the rigorously tropical climate is the rainy one of the jungles, with an annual average temperature of 21° C (±70° F) and an elevated pluviometric index1. Grographically, the tropics are in the band situated between the Tropics of Cancer and Capricorn, which are parallel to the Equator, at a distance of 26° on either side. The tropical climates are divided into: 1) humid, that of the jungle; 2) semi-arid, of the fertile lands; 3) arid, that of the deserts; and 4) semi-arid, of the savannahs2.
