Abstract
Adenine phosphoribosyltransferase (APRT, EC 2.4.2.7) and hypoxanthine phosphoribosyltransferase (HPRT, EC 2.4.2. 8) are purine salvage enzymes and catalyze the formation of adenosine monophosphate (AMP) and inosine monophosphate (IMP) from adenine, hypoxanthine and phosphoribosyl-pyrophosphate (PRPP).
