Abstract

Hemorrhagic and thrombotic problems occur commonly in the course of the leukemias and vary in relation to the form of the leukemia and programs of management. In most instances, supporting measures in the form of platelet concentrates or anticoagulants have been effective in controlling such manifestations, at least for short periods. These complications in relation to their underlying process and its expression are listed in Table 1. Note that disseminated intravascular coagulation presents itself in relation to thrombosis as well as hemorrhage.
