Abstract

The clinical association of type I insulin-dependent diabetes mellitus with many other autoimmune diseases and diseases of the other endocrine organs has been known for many years 1–3 even though, to date, a total understanding of these related phenomena is lacking. The endocrine diseases include goitrous and non-goitrous forms of Hashimoto’s thyroiditis, pernicious anemia, Grave’s disease, Addison’s disease, and less common diseases of other endocrine glands.
