Abstract
This chapter presents the six (6) types of Kansei engineering (KE) in more details than in chapter Kansei engineering: methodology to the project oriented to the consumers. Studies of the application of each type will be presented, since its inception to 2011. Thus, it is possible to notice the different procedures that each type can assume; in addition, the answers may be obtained by applying this methodology. Each type of KE uses different supports to its procedures, for example, mathematical models, virtual simulation of product usage or environment, and the joint work of designers supported by a server with intelligent software. Throughout this chapter, it is possible to realize that the application of KE includes since the macro until the micro-products/environments, the KE can be applied on the users’ preferences about a flat, the interior of a car or small objects, like a cell phone. At last, that chapter is concluded with a discussion concerning the importance of KE to business and industry, what justifies its discussion and dissemination.
