Abstract
Evidence is mounting that neural networks can provide cost-effective improvements in a wide (and growing) number of business applications. Specific examples are given later, but areas such as handwriting recognition, machine control, marketing database analysis, forecasting and image processing have all shown cost-effective use of neural networks. One estimate suggests that the market for neural network products will grow from $140m in 1991 to $1 billion in 1995, suggesting an explosion of interest. (Stewart 1991)
