Demonstrating the Change

  • Chapter
Journey to Lean

Abstract

The next phase of Arboria’s journey to lean is to carry out the pilot. A successful implementation will both achieve the planned business objectives and demonstrate the benefits of the new way of working to front-line personnel, who may need convincing that it can produce real improvements in their working lives. The pilot also affords an opportunity to pressure-test the organisation and its management infrastructure to identify weak spots that must be addressed if change is to be sustained over time.

The pilot must demonstrate the benefits of lean not just for the business, but also for employees.

The pilot will uncover systems-level issues that managers need to address to ensure sustainability.

The implementation of the future state must be driven by line managers, not a project team.
