Abstract
In practice, many plants cannot be easily operated in open loop for carrying an experimentation protocol for identification (ex: integrator behaviour, drift, open loop unstable). In some situations, a controller may already exist and there is no reason to open the loop when the object of the identification will be to get a better model for either designing a new controller or re-tuning the existing controller.
