18.3 Summary
The IA professionals’ world of the 21st century will continue to rapidly change. IA will play a major role in how nations, societies, business and technology; will change. By looking at current trends, one can see many indications of the changes yet to come; while at the same time, the IA professionals can only be sure of one thing: they and their profession must also rapidly change. However, one should be cautious. It is great to be on the cutting edge, but not on the bleeding edge. Good luck and be sure to carry a few bandages with you, just in case!
