Zusammenfassung

Sport bietet in all seinen Facetten immer wieder die Gelegenheit zum Erleben von Angst. Dieser meist als unangenehm und intensiv erlebte Zustand wird hier aus einer Prozessperspektive betrachtet. Er entsteht aus Aufmerksamkeits- und Bewertungsprozessen, die von Eigenschaften der Person und der Situation abhängig sind, wobei im Sport vor allem der Wettkampf als auslösende Situationsbedingung untersucht worden ist. Das subjektive Erleben von Angst wird begleitet von körperlichen und Verhaltensreaktionen. Insbesondere im Wettkampf lassen sich ungünstige Konsequenzen (z. B. „Versagen“) beobachten. Angst kann aber auch funktional sein und z. B. zu Vorsichtsmaßnahmen führen. Der Entstehungsprozess von Angst erlaubt vielfältige Ansatzpunkte zu ihrer Bewältigung und Regulation. Sport kann dabei zu einem besseren Umgang mit Angst beitragen.
