Abstract
Bursae are fluid-filled sacs that provide a cushion between muscles and bones and around joints. Bursitis is an inflammation of those bursae that can cause severe pain. There are preventive measures that should be implemented for high risk patients. Treatment is by anti-inflammatory medications, steroid injections and surgery for resistant cases.
