Robot-Assisted Ventral Inverted YV-Plasty for Recurrent Bladder Neck Stenosis

Abstract

After surgical treatment of benign and malignant diseases of the prostate, bladder neck contracture, also known as vesicourethral stenosis, is a well-known and well-described complication after radical prostatectomy (RRP), pelvic radiation or transurethral resection of the prostate (TURP). The correct term, according to the International Consultation on Urological Diseases (ICUD) 2014 (Latini et al., Urology 83:S1–S7, 2014), is “bladder neck stenosis” (BNS) when the prostate is in situ or “vesicourethral anastomotic stenosis” (VUAS) after radical/total prostatectomy. Therefore we use the term bladder neck stenosis according the ICUD definition.
