Abstract
Before examining the mechanics of process capability analysis, it would be wise to define the subject. With only two words to define, this would appear to be a trivial task. According to the dictionary, the word process refers to steps (or operations, or changes) leading to a particular result, and capability is defined as the capacity for an indicated use. Let us examine a few more definitions of process capability, proposed by various authorities in the field.
