Thermal and Physical and Mechanical Properties of Polysulfone Composites with Carbon Nanotubes

Abstract

The influence of multiwalled carbon nanotubes (MWNTs) on the thermal and physical and mechanical properties of polysulfone (PSU) nanocomposites is studied in this work. It is found that adding MWNTs (up to 5 wt %) to the compounds with PSU leads to an insignificant increase in the tensile modulus and a growth in the dynamic modulus of PSU/MWNTs at room temperature. Thermal and thermo-oxidative degradation of PSU/MWNTs nanocomposites is studied via TGA. The influence of addition of MWNTs on the formation and high-temperature stabilization of char residue under the conditions of thermo-oxidative degradation of PSU/MWNTs nanocomposites is found.
