Abstract
In this paper, we studied the regularities of the synthesis of cast carbide-tungsten materials in the combustion of a WO3/Al/Sa/C mixture. The combustion products of the mixture were shown to be cast tungsten carbides with an admixture of Al and an oxide solution of Al2O3-CaO, formed as two layers. A partial replacement of aluminum by calcium in the initial mixture was found to reduce the impurity content of aluminum in W-C. Cast carbide carbide-tungsten materials contain up to 2 wt % C. Their chemical and phase composition and microstructure are determined.
