It is our pleasure to announce the Primate Social Impact Award 2018. The high social impact paper is selected by the Editor-in-Chief and two Vice Editors-in-Chief on the basis of data sources such as the Altmetric score (mentions in the media and social networking sites) and full-text downloads.

The Primates Social Impact Award 2018 goes to the following two papers:

Jie Gao, Yanjie Su, Masaki Tomonaga, Tetsuro Matsuzawa: Learning the rules of the rock–paper–scissors game: chimpanzees versus children (Gao et al. 2018).

Rafaela S. C. Takeshita, Fred B. Bercovitch, Kodzue Kinoshita, Michael A. Huffman: Beneficial effect of hot spring bathing on stress levels in Japanese macaques (Takeshita et al. 2018).

Both papers got a lot of media attention, were frequently mentioned in social networks, and were highly downloaded. Their work thus contributed greatly to enhancing the reputation of our journal.
