In October last year, the former editor of Zoomorphology, Prof. Dr. Otto Kraus, died. He had joined the journal as editor and was an editorial board member for 40 years. During this impressive time span, he has shaped the journal and helped to bring it to what it is today. The journal Zoomorphology, its editors and editorial board are thankful for his impact and long loyalty. I am very thankful that the former editor, Thomas Bartolomaeus, intermediate between Otto Kraus and me, has written an obituary to remember our former chief editor.
