Scope, historical overview and perspectives: AP also constructed the complicated Fig. 1 and is the corresponding author.

RS was the first of the three speakers. He wrote the chapter of this Meeting Report, The Papyrus Ebers, its scribe and explorer that describes the work of Ebers and the medical content of his papyrus.

HW was the second speaker. He wrote the chapter Prof. Dr. med. Fritz Kurt Hauschild (1908–1974) that describes life and scientific work of this pharmacologist.

IK was the third speaker. She wrote the chapter of this Meeting Report Prof. Dr. med. habil. Reinhard Ludewig (1923–2016) that describes life and scientific work of this pharmacologist.
