FormalPara Kevin Lanning

is a professor of psychology at the Wilkes Honors College of Florida Atlantic University. He is a social scientist trained in personality psychology.

Early Life and Educational Background

Lanning was born in Oakland on October 18, 1956, as one of five siblings: an older brother Ian would volunteer for service in Vietnam and another, Stan, would become a mathematician and computer scientist known for his development of the Netflix Prize. Two younger sisters, Lisa and Valentina, achieved their own successes despite growing up in a family and at a time in which there was lip service about feminism, but in which the females nonetheless served traditional domestic roles.
