Structure of Higher Education System

Description

The higher education system is centralized and under the responsibility of the Ministry of Higher Education. Higher education institutions reopened in 2002.

Stages of studies

University level first stage

Bachelor’s degree

The first stage of higher education leads in Arts, Education, Social Science, Engineering, Veterinary Medicine, Science and Agriculture, to the award of the Bachelor’s degree after four years of study. Studies in Medicine last for seven years (including one year pre-medical and one year internship).

University level second stage

Master’s degree

The second stage of higher education leads in Literature, Dari, Pashto, Public Administration and Islamic Studies, to the award of the Master’s degree after two years of study.

Name of Secondary school credential required: Baccaluria
