Abstract

Court obtained his PhD degree in economics from Columbia University in 1942. He was at Columbia from the Summer Term of 1936 through the Spring Term of 1938 and held the Granville W. Garth Fellow-ship. He was a ‘student at large’ at the University of Chicago during the Winter and Spring Quarters of 1941. It is also known that he was an Instructor of Mathematics at Rutgers University during the years 1946–8. This sparse and sketchy information allows some gleaning into the intellectual influences on Louis Court.
