Structure of Higher Education System
Description
Higher education is provided by universities, other degree awarding institutions and tertiary institutions, both public and private.
Stages of studies
University level first stage
Bachelor's degree
First stage after upper secondary level or the second stage after a diploma leading to the award of a Bachelor's degree. The Bachelor's degree is conferred after studies lasting between three to five years; 3 years for general degrees in Arts and Science, four years for Law, Engineering and Agriculture, and five years in Medicine and Dentistry programmes.
University level second stage
Master's degree
The Master's degree is awarded after eighteen months to two years of study following the Bachelor's degree. The Master's degree is ether taught or research and all candidates must submit a thesis.

PhD degree
