Structure of Higher Education System


Higher education is mainly provided by universities, colleges, and specialized institutions, both public and private.

Stages of studies

University level first stage

Certificate, Diploma, Bachelor’s degree

Certificates and Diplomas are awarded after studies lasting between two and three years. The Bachelor’s degrees are awarded after studies lasting between three to five years.

University level second stage

Master’s degree

The Master’s degree is conferred after studies lasting between one and two years beyond the Bachelor’s degree.

University level third stage

Doctor’s degree

The Doctor’s degree is conferred after a minimum of three years’ study. Candidates must submit a thesis.
