Abstract

Gifted girls with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) are an under-researched and underserved population. When measured against the generalised research around ASD, predominantly sampled from male populations, a body of knowledge is emerging about the unique needs of twice-exceptional (2e) girls with ASD. Synthesising existing literature in the field of ASD, in particular with respect to girls with ASD and students with twice exceptionality, some educational goals are identified. Existing strategies and practices for 2e girls with ASD are examined. Recommended practices and implications for future research are discussed in light of their potential to shape the intervention landscape for this population of students.
