The establishment of a geopark requires clear environmental and space planning. In general, these areas can be divided into natural functional areas and artificial facilities areas. Natural functional areas include geological landscapes (e.g., geological heritage protection zones) and natural ecological zones (e.g., water bodies and forests). Artificial facilities include cultural landscape areas, preserved villages and settlements, science education areas, reception areas (or the main entrance) and management areas. The goal of planning is to delineate these areas according to the existing conditions and needs.
