This geopark is located in the eastern part of the central orogenic system in China and the hinterland of the Funiu Mountain Range in Henan Province. The geopark has an area of 1,340 km2, and it became a geopark in 2006. The geomorphology is closely related to the orogenic movements, especially the ‘Juchiling (Sawtooth Ridge)’, ‘Yanpanshan (Rock Plate Hill)’, ‘Wuxingshan’ (Five Elements Hill)’ and ‘Xieheliejie (Unloading cracking)’ landscapes are typical related to the granite landform. In addition to displaying different types of granite landforms, its ‘plastic rheology’ landscape reflects the karst features and heterogeneity of the orogenic belt. The hydrological landscape is represented by the intersection of the Xianchenghe and Houhe Rivers, Heyuan Lake and the associated quasi-plain, the cascades and waterfalls, and the adjacency of waterfalls and knickpoints, demonstrating the close relationship between neotectonics and fluvial geomorphology.
