This is a type of ecological landscape that is also known as a northern coniferous forest or taiga landscape. It is composed of coniferous woodlands in a cold temperate region. The tree group mainly consists of a single species with straight trunks and a simple and clear community structure. The trees are mainly Picea, Abies, Larix and Pinus. Picea and Abies are more shade-tolerant, so they occupy the darker and closed areas inside the woodland, which were given the name ‘dark coniferous forest’. Larix and Pinus are heliophiles, and they are more widely scattered, so it is brighter inside the woodland. This type of woodland has the name ‘bright coniferous forest’.
